Eloping 101

The word ‘Elope’ has historically meant "to run away secretly in a sudden and secretive fashion with the intention of getting married without parental consent or religious obligations.

In recent years, the act of ‘Eloping’ has also evolved to mean “two consenting adults planning a very small, intimate, & romantic wedding with just a witness and an officiant” as attendants.   Although meaning of the word ‘Elope’ has changed with times, the word has always and still means “to escape”.

Eloping has become a more prevalent route to the “I do”.  For some couples, wedding planning can be exciting and, at times, downright blissful and for others, the process can be incredibly stressful.  While some couples prefer the idea of a large ceremony with all of the bells and whistles, there are those [regardless of cost] that prefer a small, intimate, romantic ceremony & others who prefer a simple, very quick and non-stressful civil ceremony at City Hall. And, let’s not forget the couples who are just super spontaneous and prefer to make their next beach or destination vacation the location for their wedding ceremony.  For these reasons and more, some couples decide to go against grain of a traditional ceremony, choosing instead, elopement as their “elegant out-of-the-box alternative” of choice.
